Rhodes to Wellness Coaching – Equimotional Coaches Course
Last updated: September 2026
The Equimotional Coaches Course is delivered online through live video sessions.
I want the online classroom to feel like a safe, welcoming and respectful place to learn. Because some of the course material can be personal or emotionally meaningful, creating an environment where students feel comfortable participating at their own level is important.
This policy outlines the practical expectations for participating in the online course.
Classes are delivered live through Zoom on the scheduled course dates and times.
Students are encouraged to attend live whenever possible so they can participate in discussions, activities and group learning.
If a student is unable to attend a class, they should notify the educator where possible.
Missed classes do not automatically entitle a student to a refund. Where possible, reasonable access to missed learning materials or alternative arrangements may be provided.
Students are encouraged to join classes from a location where they can participate comfortably and with reasonable privacy.
Where possible, students should:
Choose a quiet and appropriate space;
Minimise unnecessary interruptions;
Use headphones if this helps maintain privacy;
Have access to a stable internet connection;
Have any required course materials available before class begins.
Life happens, and unexpected interruptions are understandable. Students are not expected to have a perfectly quiet or uninterrupted environment.
Students are encouraged to use their cameras when possible because seeing one another can help create connection within an online classroom.
However, students may turn their camera off when needed.
Students should keep their microphone muted when they are not speaking to minimise background noise.
There may be times when the educator asks students to use their cameras or microphones for a particular activity, but reasonable alternatives will be considered where possible.
Students are welcome to participate through:
Speaking;
Asking questions;
Using the Zoom chat;
Taking part in activities;
Sharing reflections;
Listening and observing.
Students are not required to speak or disclose personal information in order to participate.
The chat should be used respectfully and for course-related communication during class.
Students should be mindful of privacy when participating online.
This includes considering:
Who else may be able to hear the class;
What is visible in the background of their camera;
Whether other people can access their computer or device;
Whether notifications or private messages may appear on screen.
Students are expected to respect the privacy of other participants and not share personal information, stories or disclosures outside the course.
Because online learning involves multiple participants, absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Students should therefore use their own discretion when deciding what personal information they share.
Students must not record, photograph, screenshot or otherwise reproduce live classes or private course discussions without permission.
This includes recordings made through:
Zoom;
Screen-recording software;
Mobile phones or other devices;
Other recording technology.
Course materials, presentations and recordings provided by Rhodes to Wellness Coaching, where applicable, are for enrolled students' learning and must not be copied, distributed, uploaded or shared without permission.
Some course topics may naturally lead to personal reflection or sharing.
Students are welcome to share personal experiences if they choose, but there is no expectation that anyone disclose trauma, abuse, grief or other sensitive personal information.
Students may:
Pass on a question;
Turn their camera off;
Step away briefly;
Take a break;
Choose not to participate in a particular activity.
Students are encouraged to honour their own boundaries and respect the boundaries of others.
Learning about vulnerability, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and other emotionally significant topics can sometimes bring up unexpected feelings.
Students are encouraged to notice their own needs and take care of themselves during class.
It is completely acceptable to step away, take a breath or take a break.
The course is educational rather than therapeutic. If a student finds that course material brings up experiences that require personal therapeutic or mental health support, they are encouraged to seek appropriate support outside the course.
The same standards of respect apply online as they would in an in-person classroom.
Students are expected to communicate respectfully and avoid:
Bullying or intimidation;
Harassment;
Discriminatory comments;
Personal attacks;
Deliberately disruptive behaviour;
Sharing another student's personal information without permission.
Differences of opinion are welcome. Disrespect is not.
Online technology does not always cooperate—sometimes Zoom has a mind of its own.
Reasonable technical difficulties will be handled with understanding.
Students are responsible for making reasonable efforts to have:
A functioning device;
A suitable internet connection;
Access to Zoom;
Any required course materials.
If technical problems prevent a student from participating, they should contact the educator when reasonably possible.
Rhodes to Wellness Coaching cannot guarantee uninterrupted internet or technology services.
Course-related communication may take place by email or another designated communication method.
Students should use these channels appropriately and understand that they are not intended to provide continuous personal or emotional support outside scheduled course time.
Reasonable boundaries around communication and response times will be maintained.
If behaviour occurs during an online session that creates a significant concern for the safety, privacy or wellbeing of others, the educator may intervene.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
Redirecting the conversation;
Asking someone to stop a particular behaviour;
Temporarily removing a participant from the online session;
Ending a participant's involvement in the course where necessary and in accordance with the Course Terms & Conditions.
Serious safeguarding concerns will be addressed in accordance with the Safeguarding Policy.
Students are encouraged to communicate any reasonable learning or accessibility needs that may affect their participation.
Where reasonably possible, adjustments may be considered to help students engage with the course.
Students are not required to share more personal information than is necessary to discuss a learning or accessibility need.
An online classroom is still a classroom, even when everyone is sitting in their own home.
The educator's responsibility is to create and maintain a respectful learning environment.
Students share responsibility for contributing to that environment by respecting themselves, one another and the learning process.
The goal is to create an online space where students can learn, ask questions, reflect and participate without feeling pressured to perform, disclose or be someone they are not.
